April in Review

1. I started a new (and second) job this month-- kind of my 15-year-old-self's dream job, no biggie. Wore this on my first day!

2. I went to Virginia one last time for the Sweet Briar Creative Writing Conference. This is a shot from the plane ride home. The trip was bittersweet; it was so nice to see all of my friends, and the conference was #AMAZING, but knowing that Sweet Briar is closing and there won't be another conference was pretty heartbreaking.

3. I got to hang out with my brother and see his (semi) new house! We made tacos on the grill and drank beer and hung out at the fire pit. Good, pre-Summer, summery night. This is a koozie he had at his house-- one of the house rules is "beers always get koozies... always."

4. Lilly Pulitzer for Target. The sale was crazy, but my mom and I managed to snag a bunch of good stuff. This is the "Fan Dance" dress and how I styled it.  I love it with these white suede Cole Haan shoes and a jean jacket. It makes Lilly a little less Palm Beach.

Lilly Pulitzer for Target Haul

Ok, I think we can all agree that the Lilly Pulitzer for Target sell-out was #INSANE, but that didn't stop me from totally taking part and buying everything --well, my mom bought everything, for which I am eternally grateful.
Even more luckily for my mom and I, we live in a city where not a lot of people know about, or care about, Lilly Pulitzer, so even though we didn't get to our Target until 8:30 am, there was still plenty of stuff left and we were able to find everything we wanted!

So, here's what I scored:

Scarf with Tassels in Boom Boom
As someone who wears scarves all the time, this was an easy sell. I love the pink and green, and the tassels are so cute. It's also long enough that I can wrap it around my neck twice, which seems like a really weird thing to want, but my school is seriously so cold all the time that it comes up more than you'd expect.

Fashion Headscarf in Nosie Posey
This was also an easy sell. I love this pattern, and recently have been really into the square scarf around the neck look. It's a really easy way to add some color to an outfit and it's always an unexpected detail.

Canvas Shopping Tote in Nosie Posey and Belladonna
I desperately needed a more summery bag for school because the huge black leather tote I'm carrying now just screams winter, so this was a must have!

Challis Pompom Shorts in Happy Place
Frankly, I'm not a huge fan of these types of shorts, but I tried these on and actually really liked how they looked on me. Usually, anything with an elastic waistband makes me look (and feel) like I'm wearing a diaper, but these were comfortable and cute!

Crochet Tank Top
This tank is seriously so versatile. I ended up wearing it to work after we shopped the sale, and I got a ton of complements! The white crochet fabric makes it summery, while the more modest cut stops it from being too... festival. Does that make sense? Whatever.

Button Down Shirt in Nosie Posey
THIS SHIRT. Ok, I love love love the Nosie Posey pattern, and the fit of this shirt was #AMAZING. My mom and I both got this, and we have really different body types, and it fit both of us perfectly. Color me impressed Target.

Fringe Kimono Jacket in White
This kimono was the only thing I got from the online release at midnight (#OMGWHY). I seriously love kimono style jackets and needed a white cover up type thing anyway, so this was perfect! It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm excited to see what the fit is like!
Shift Dress in See Ya Later
Shift Dress in Upstream
Both of these shift dresses are the same cut, but I got them both because... well, I wanted them, ok? Also the different colors make them totally different dresses. I was really worried about the shifts in this collection because I normally wear a 0 or 00 in Lilly Pulitzer but the smallest size they had these in was a 2 (I know, this is such gross explani-brag, sorry) but luckily the 2 fit like a glove. Again, color me impressed.
Shift Dress in Fan Dance
This dress was funny because I pretty much hated it when I saw it on the website, but when I saw it in-store I was totally in love.
Strapless Maxi Dress in Nosie Posey
OK CAN I JUST SAY THIS MAXI DRESS IS A MIRACLE. I am five feet two inches tall and let me tell you, in my short world, maxi dresses just aren't a thing. It's sad, but true. But I thought, what the hell, I'll try it on while I'm here and it's here and we're all here, whatever. And it fit. #PRAISEYEEZUS
Satin Jumpsuit in Boom Boom
Buying this was a total gamble because I put it in our cart after I had already tried everything else on, and I didn't feel like going back in the dressing room because ugh, so I just bought it. And I love it! Similar to the maxi dress, it was amazingly the right fit, but I do have to get the legs hemmed about an inch. I love it, and the totally 70s vibe is #IN for summer. I can't wait to wear this!
